Nonexistence of nontrivial global solutions for nonlocal in time differential inequalities

In this paper, some nonlocal in time differential inequalities of Sobolev type are considered. Using the nonlinear capacity method, sufficient conditions for the nonexistence of nontrivial global classical solutions are provided.

Local Sensitivity Analysis in Estimation Problems

This article deals with the problem of local sensitivity analysis, that is, how sensitive are the results of a statistical analysis to changes in the data? A general methodology of sensitivity analysis is applied to some statistical problems. The proposed methods are applicable to any statistical problem that can be expressed as an optimization problem or that involves solving a system of equations. As some particular examples, the methodology is applied to the maximum likelihood method, the standard and constrained methods of moments and the standard and constrained probability weighted moments methods. Unlike the standard method of moments, the constrained method of moments ensures that the obtained estimates are always consistent with the data. Closed analytical formulas for the calculation of these local sensitivities are derived. The obtained sensitivities include: (a) the objective function sensitivities to data points and (b) the sensitivities of the estimated parameters to data points. The derived formulas for the sensitivities are based on recent results in the area of mathematical programming. Several examples of parameter estimation problems are used to illustrate the methodology.     

ON CERTAIN CLASS OF MEROMORPHIC FUNCTIONS WITH POSITIVE COEFFICIENTS

In the present investigation we define a new class of meromorphic functions on the punctured unit disk △*:= {z ∈ C : 0 < |z| < 1} by making use of the generalized Dziok-Srivastava operator H l m [α1 ]. Coefficient inequalities, growth and distortion inequalities, as well as closure results are obtained. We also establish some results concerning the partial sums of meromorphic functions and neighborhood results for functions in new class.

Controllability results for the two-dimensional heat equation with mixed boundary conditions using Carleman inequalities: a linear and a semilinear case

In this paper, we prove controllability results for a two-dimensional semilinear heat equation with mixed boundary conditions. It is well-known that mixed boundary conditions can present a singular behaviour of the solution. First, we will prove global Carleman estimates then we will use these inequalities to obtain controllability results.     

An explicit algorithm for monotone variational inequalities

We introduce a fully explicit method for solving monotone variational inequalities in Hilbert spaces, where orthogonal projections onto the feasible set are replaced by projections onto suitable hyperplanes. We prove weak convergence of the whole generated sequence to a solution of the problem, under only the assumptions of continuity and monotonicity of the operator and existence of solutions.
